August 05\/Press TV\/ -Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has emphasized that Russia is a \u201cstrategic partner\u201d for the Islamic Republic. Strengthening relations with Moscow ranks high on Iran\u2019s foreign policy agenda. Pezeshkian made these remarks during a meeting with Secretary of Russia\u2019s Security Council, Sergei Shoigu, who visited Tehran for talks with Iranian authorities.<\/p>\n<p>Pezeshkian highlighted Russia\u2019s steadfast support during Iran\u2019s challenging times and stressed the need to expedite the implementation of bilateral agreements. He also expressed a belief that the era of unilateralism by certain powers, including the United States, is over. Collaborating with Russia to promote a multipolar world, according to Pezeshkian, will enhance global security and peace.<\/p>\n<p>Shoigu\u2019s visit occurred amidst heightened tensions in the region following the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, the political leader of Hamas, in Tehran. Iran has vowed to respond to this act of aggression, which it considers a violation of international laws.<\/p>\n<p>Moscow has also condemned Haniyeh\u2019s assassination, emphasizing the dangerous consequences of such actions.\u00a0During their meeting, Pezeshkian further criticized Israel\u2019s actions in Gaza and its attempts to escalate conflict in the region.<\/p>\n<p>During his visit to Tehran, Russian Secretary of Security Council Sergei Shoigu congratulated President Masoud Pezeshkian on his election and reaffirmed Russia\u2019s view of the Islamic Republic as a key strategic ally in the region. Shoigu expressed satisfaction with joint efforts between Russia and Iran to create a \u201cmultipolar world\u201d and enhance regional security. Relations between the two allies continue to grow across various sectors.<\/p>\n<p>Before meeting with Pezeshkian, Shoigu also held discussions with Major General Mohammad Baqeri, Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces. Gen. Bagheri described Iran-Russia relations as \u201cstrategic and deep-rooted,\u201d emphasizing their commitment to further expanding bilateral ties. He assured that the change of governments would not disrupt the positive trajectory of Tehran-Moscow relations.<\/p>\n<p>Gen. Bagheri also noted that the era of unilateralism is over, and he welcomed tripartite cooperation among Iran, Russia, and China. In response, Shoigu expressed Russia\u2019s keen interest in strengthening all-out cooperation with Iran on regional issues.<\/p>\n<p>Shoigu\u2019s visit was at the invitation of his Iranian counterpart, Ali Akbar Ahmadian, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council.
