Song remarked, <em>\u201cI regretted not having visited this sacred site while in office. Today\u2019s visit brings me a sense of peace, and I hope for continued collaboration between our groups.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Engagement with bereaved families and youth voices<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The itinerary continued with a visit to the <strong>Association of Bereaved Families of Fallen Soldiers<\/strong> in Gwangju&#8217;s Seo-gu district. During a candid roundtable discussion, <strong>Boo Suk-jong<\/strong> emphasised the importance of honouring the sacrifices of those who perished in service to the nation, pledging to reflect their families\u2019 concerns in national remembrance and veterans\u2019 policy.<\/p>\n<p>In a separate dialogue held at <strong>Chosun University\u2019s Rose Garden Pavilion<\/strong>, the delegation met with military studies students to hear their views on current defence policies. Student concerns included demands for <strong>expanded scholarships<\/strong>, <strong>career support for junior officers<\/strong>, and <strong>post-service employment pathways<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Choi Hyun-guk<\/strong>, former Deputy Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and now the delegation\u2019s standing chairperson, reassured the students that their voices would be represented in future policy discussions: <em>\u201cYour contributions as students and future officers are invaluable. We are committed to reflecting your aspirations in the next administration\u2019s priorities.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Regional media visit and policy dialogue<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The final leg of the visit included a stop at <strong>The Gwangju Daily<\/strong>, one of the region\u2019s most prominent newspapers.
