LONDON: The Foreign Secretary, Lord David Cameron, expressed his concern that Israel may have violated international law in its war with Hamas in Gaza.
He told the Commons Foreign Affairs Committee that he had witnessed some “disturbing” incidents in the conflict and he was seeking legal advice from his department on arms sales to the area.
He said he was not in a position to make a “legal judgment” on international law issues.
The former prime minister said: “I am concerned that Israel may have acted in contravention of international law by bombing this specific location or something like that. That is why I consult the Foreign Office lawyers before giving any guidance on arms exports.”
He urged Israel to resume water supply in Gaza but did not comment on whether cutting off water to the civilians constituted a breach of the laws of war.
