EU must enforce Gaza War Crime rulings, Says The Left

BRUSSELS,Belgium (Imran Saqib Ch) — As humanitarian aid and prisoner exchanges unfold under the latest ceasefire agreement in Gaza, The Left in the European Parliament is calling on the European Union to confront the root causes of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and enforce international legal rulings, including those from the International Criminal Court (ICC) and the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

While welcoming the fragile truce, the political group expressed alarm over reports of continued Israeli airstrikes in Gaza, raising concerns about violations of the ceasefire. Lynn Boylan, Chair of the European Parliament’s Delegation for Relations with Palestine and a Sinn Féin MEP from Ireland, emphasized that peace must be anchored in justice and accountability.

“A ceasefire is of course welcome, but it has to be built on lasting peace and justice,” Boylan stated. “True justice means accountability for war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by the Israeli Government. We cannot have a situation where a country is allowed to commit genocide for two years and then return to business as usual.” She urged the EU to ensure member states execute ICC arrest warrants issued for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defence Minister Yoav Gallant, and to cooperate fully with both the ICC and ICJ.
