MOSCOW,Russia/TASS/ – Kremlin Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov has firmly rejected the United States’ assessment of Russia’s presidential election, emphasizing Moscow’s refusal to accept it. In response to criticism from a US National Security Council official, who labeled the election as “neither free nor fair,” Peskov categorically dismissed this viewpoint. President Vladimir Putin had anticipated such remarks, considering them predictable. Peskov further emphasized Russia’s perspective, highlighting the United States’ deep involvement in the conflict in Ukraine.
“As a matter of fact, this country is fighting against us. Obviously, other assessments could hardly be expected. Let me reiterate: We categorically disagree with them, and this opinion holds no importance for us these days,” stressed Peskov.
Russia’s inaugural three-day presidential election, held from March 15 to 17, introduced remote electronic voting in 29 regions. According to the Central Election Commission, with 99.43% of vote tallies processed by local election commissions, incumbent President Vladimir Putin secured a commanding lead over his three rivals, obtaining 87.32% of the vote
