VILNIANSK, Ukraine (AP) November 24– A Russian missile hit the maternity ward of a hospital in eastern Ukraine on Wednesday, killing a newborn and seriously injuring a doctor. A nighttime blast littered a small-town hospital with crumbling bricks and medical supplies strewn across a small compound.
The deadly attack on the small town of Vilnyansk was his second in a week, and Natalya Usienko said he fears it won’t be his last.
“The attack began and the first of his S300 missiles hit the road. The second rocket hit the maternity wing of the general hospital where people were,” he said. “A woman gave birth to a child two days ago. She gave birth to a boy. Unfortunately, the rocket took the life of this child who lived only two days.”
Six days ago, a Russian missile hit an apartment building, killing 11 people.
