North Korea Pledges Strategic Cooperation, Seeks Alliance with Russia

SEOUL (Reuters) – North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has vowed to strengthen strategic cooperation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, aiming to achieve their shared goal of building powerful nations. is, according to a message published by state media KCNA.

In a message to mark Russia’s national day, Kim defended his decision to invade Ukraine and expressed “full support and solidarity” with Putin. He expressed confidence that justice will prevail and appreciated the contribution of the Russian people in the history of victory.

Kim stressed the need for closer strategic cooperation with Moscow, citing the importance of holding firm hands with President Putin. He highlighted the common desire of the people of both the countries to fulfill the great goal of building strong nations.

North Korea has actively sought to strengthen its ties with Russia and has shown support for Moscow following its invasion of Ukraine last year. North Korea’s leadership has blamed the increase on what it sees as “dominant policy” and the “high hand” of the United States and Western powers.

The pledge of cooperation between Kim Jong-un and Vladimir Putin marks a deepening alliance between North Korea and Russia. The two leaders aim to forge a closer partnership to pursue their national interests and counter perceived Western influence in the region. The strategic cooperation between the two countries is expected to have significant geopolitical implications in East Asia.
