FRANKFURT, Germany(LP Correspondent)- British-Indian author Salman Rushdie is set to receive the prestigious Peace Prize of the German Book Trade this Sunday within the historic St Paul’s Church in Frankfurt. This esteemed German Peace Prize includes a monetary award of €25,000 (equivalent to $27,300) and stands as one of the most revered accolades in Germany, originating in its first bestowal back in 1950.

The renowned writer, who courageously endured a stabbing incident just last year, is to be recognized by this honour for his unwavering resilience, his celebration of life, and for the profound enrichment of our world through his devotion to storytelling, as declared by the judging panel.

The jury’s statement, featured on the prize’s official website, underscores Rushdie’s unique ability to seamlessly blend narrative prescience with unceasing literary innovation, humor, and wisdom, both in his novels and non-fiction works.

The congratulatory address for Rushdie will be presented by fellow author Daniel Kehlmann.

Although Rushdie was announced as the laureate of this distinguished award back in June, the formal award ceremony will take place during the closing of the Frankfurt Book Fair this Sunday.
