EPC and Kyrgyz Ambassador unite for climate action and regional cooperation

LONDON. July 25(Correspondent LP)— The Eurasia Policy Council (EPC) founders met with His Excellency, the Ambassador,Ulan Djusupov, of the Kyrgyz Republic to the United Kingdom, at the Kyrgyz Embassy in London to explore strategic collaboration opportunities in Kyrgyzstan and address pressing regional climate challenges.

The high-level discussions centered on enhancing regional cooperation, advancing policy innovation, and tackling Central Asia’s escalating climate crisis, including water scarcity, glacier loss, and environmental degradation. These issues pose significant threats to sustainable development, energy security, and regional stability. The EPC emphasized aligning regional initiatives with global climate commitments to foster collaborative solutions.

 

“Central Asia, particularly Kyrgyzstan, is at a pivotal juncture of geopolitical, environmental, and socio-economic transformations,” said Prof. Shabnam Delfani, EPC Founder. “As the climate crisis intensifies, coordinated policy and dialogue between local and international partners are critical.”

EPC founder Reza Syed appreciated the reforms made by the President of Kyrgyzstan regarding climate change and education reforms. He said that Kyrgyzstan has implemented several significant reforms in recent years, focusing on governance, economic policy, and social sectors to tackle systemic challenges and foster sustainable development.

The Kyrgyz Ambassador shared a forward-looking vision, highlighting Kyrgyzstan’s commitment to sustainable development and regional leadership in addressing climate challenges. The Ambassador emphasized the importance of transboundary water management and green energy initiatives as key pillars for fostering resilience and economic growth in Central Asia. “Kyrgyzstan sees itself as a proactive partner in building a sustainable future, leveraging its unique position to drive regional cooperation and attract international support for climate adaptation,” he added.

The meeting also underscored Central Asia’s growing role as a strategic bridge between East and West, rich in natural resources and cultural heritage. The EPC reiterated its commitment to fostering dialogue between European institutions and Central Asian partners to promote sustainable connectivity, peace, and resilience amid global challenges.
Both sides agreed to deepen cooperation, prioritizing inclusive, data-driven, and forward-looking policymaking to shape Kyrgyzstan’s future development. The ambassador expressed enthusiasm for partnering with EPC to develop actionable frameworks that align with Kyrgyzstan’s national priorities and international goals, particularly in environmental security and regional stability.
