Diplomatic Corps praise cycling initiative by the King of Brunei

Bandar Seri Begawan (Brussels Independent) -Members of the diplomatic corps joined Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Muizadin Wadaula Ibni Al Malhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddin, Sultan of Brunei Darussalam and Yang Di Pertuan, and members of the royal family of Semanghat. Kebangsaan 2023 recreational cycling in Tamanhaj, Lord Muda Omar ‘Ali Saifudien in the capital yesterday in line with Brunei Darussalam’s 39th National Day celebrations.

Indonesian Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Dr. Miko Sujatomiko, who attended the last event before leaving the Sultanate, said: He extends his congratulations to His Majesty and the people of Brunei as they celebrate Brunei’s 39th National Day.

“Under Your Majesty’s wise guidance, the Sultanate will continue to prosper and its people will continue to live in harmony and peace. Today, about 15 diplomatic mission members and about 20 Indonesian Embassy officials will attend. Given the high turnout, I believe this is the biggest cycling event since COVID-19.

“Meeting and greeting His Majesty and other members of the royal family and riding a bicycle are always special and memorable occasions,” he said.

Meanwhile, Malaysian High Commissioner for Brunei Darussalam Dato Rajah Reza Bin Rajah Zaib Shah said:

“Promoting a healthy lifestyle among Bruneians and providing the community, including members of the diplomatic corps, with a rare opportunity to cycle with His Majesty is a commendable effort.”

He also said, “Through events like this, it proves that people from all walks of life can come together to celebrate Brunei’s 39th National Day. “The event will also allow the diplomatic corps to network and interact with Bruneians, including His Majesty the King and members of the royal family, and ministers at informal events.

“We welcome the encouraging participation of the ambassadors and high commissioners of Indonesia, Malaysia, the United States, Laos, Germany, Vietnam, India, Pakistan, the diplomatic corps from Singapore, Cambodia and Japan.”
