Israeli army kills Palestinian suspected of stabbing soldier

JERUSALEM (AFP) Israeli security forces killed a Palestinian man accused of stabbing a soldier in the West Bank on Thursday, officials said.

The Israeli army said it opened fire on a Palestinian stabbing suspect who was rushing towards troops near the town of Al-Fawal, southwest of the city of Hebron. The soldier the attackers tried to stabb him was not injured, he said.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health said the Palestinian, who he identified as 22-year-old Sharif Rabaa, died of his wounds shortly after being shot when he was stopped at a checkpoint near the entrance to the Alfawar refugee camp. Stated.

His death brings the total number of Palestinians killed by Israeli security forces in the West Bank and East Jerusalem since the beginning of the year to 43, according to an Associated Press tally, the highest number in the West Bank and Israel in years. However, young people threw stones in protest at the attack and other people not involved in the clashes were also killed.
